Elizabeth Warren Wins Massachusetts Senate Seat In Landslide Victory Over Pro-Crypto Rival John Deaton

Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren has won the Massachusetts senate seat, beating Republican rival and pro-crypto candidate John Deaton in a landslide victory.

Associated Press data shows that Warren secured 74% of the 145,000 votes that were counted.

Deaton, a well-known crypto lawyer who advocated for XRP holders in Ripple’s battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), had the backing of several crypto elites. This resulted in him securing $2 million in funding from Gemini founders the Winklevoss twins and Ripple.

Despite the backing from major crypto players, Deaton was considered a longshot against Warren, who held the seat in the US senate since 2013. She also maintained a comfortable 20 to 30 percentage point lead in the polls prior to the official vote count.

Following the victory, Warren will enter her third term in the US Senate.

Elizabeth Warren Trying To Build An “Anti-Crypto Army”

In October, Warren and Deaton faced off in two senate debates. Crypto-friendly Deaton accused his rival of trying to build an “anti-crypto army” while neglecting other important issues that are negatively impacting the state’s lower and middle class. 

Warren responded by saying that she is “fine” with anyone who wants to buy and sell crypto, and added that she just wants to ensure the nascent digital asset industry abides by the same rules as bankers and stockbrokers.  

Both candidates were able to agree that the traditional banking system has failed many Americans. However, they could not reach a consensus on how problems in the sector should be addressed.

Donald Trump Set To Retake The White House

Meanwhile, the Associated Press also called a victory for Democrats in Massachusetts, giving Kamala Harris 11 electoral votes. Despite that, Donald Trump is currently in the lead with 267 electoral votes while Harris only has a collective 224 electoral votes as of 3:46 a.m. EST.

Trump has already declared victory while speaking at West Palm Beach in Florida, thanking voters for returning him to the White House. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has yet to concede.

160 crypto influencers exposed for undisclosed paid ads

ZachXBT , a known “on-chain detective”, dropped another massive leak on September 1, exposing hundreds of crypto influencers. The hacker behind the $300 million Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) breach has resurfaced with another major purchase, this time acquiring Solana (SOL).
