North Korea has been making headlines in the cryptocurrency market. This comes after the recent Bybit hack. North Korea’s state-backed hacker group Lazarus has been active for years now. But the $1.4 billion attack on Bybit put the group under the crypto spotlight. The group was formed back in 2010 and has carried out several attacks since then. Crypto sleuth ZachXBT wins second Arkham bounty after WazirX hack

Crypto sleuth ZachXBT has claimed his second bug Bounty after submitting ‘definitive’ evidence of the KYC-deposit address used by a Hack er to cash in on the $235 million WazirX Hack .  Arkham posted the bounty this morning offering 5,000 ARKM (~$8200) to anyone able to identify the KYC centralized exchange deposit, the exploiter’s identity, or help return stolen funds. Indian crypto exchange WazirX was hacked on July 18 and funds, including $100 million worth of SHIB and $52 million in ETH have reportedly already been sold. ZachXBT told Protos that he was already following the WazirX hack and that submitting evidence for the bounty was as simple as exporting a graph. November scores exploiters $290m over 5 major crypto hacks

Attacks on Poloniex, HTX, Heco bridge, KyberSwap, and Kronos Research earned hackers $290 million, with a week to go until November 2023 closes. As of Nov. 23, crypto hackers reportedly stole a combined $290 million from five major heists where at least $10 million was illegally ferried from each protocol. The platforms affected included three Justin Sun-related entities: HTX, Heco Bridge, and Poloniex, according to Lookonchain. Is November Hacker Month? Bitfinex parent offers $150m share buyback to regain control

iFinex, the owner of Bitfinex, has offer ed a $150 million buyback to those who bought its share s as part of a 2016 swap arrangement. Bloomberg has learned that the parent company of the Bitfinex crypto exchange and Tether, iFinex Inc., is seeking to buy back its share s from investors. The firm wants to get more control over its private dealings. According to the document sent to investors, the Hong Kong-based company had reportedly offered $10 per share for 15 million shares to those investors who bought stock as part of a 2016 swap arrangement when Bitfinex suffered a $71 million hack. At the time, the exchange offered users BFX tokens, which were later redeemed in exchange for shares. With the buyback offer, iFinex wants to “support the Bitfinex Group’s regulatory applications and to address scrutiny,” the document says. FTX adviser rescued $500m during November 2022 hack

Kumanan Ramanathan who worked for a legal firm consulting for Sam Bankman-Fried’s crypto exchange was able to safeguard up to $500 million of customer funds on the day hackers attacked FTX. Amid bizarre transactions out of FTX wallets on Nov. 11, Zach Dexter, chief executive of FTX subsidiary LedgerX rallied former employees on a Google Meet call to brainstorm how they might protect vulnerable user assets. Ramanathan, advising FTX from Alvarez & Marshall, volunteered to create a new wallet on his Ledger Nano and transfer the funds there, according to a Wired investigative report. Ledger Nano is a hardware wallet used for self-custody of cryptocurrencies. Also on the call was Gary Wang, former chief technology officer at FTX and Alameda, and currently witness for the prosecution in Bankman-Fried’s criminal trial. Defi protocol Balancer suffers frontend hack

The team behind the protocol has confirmed the attack and urged users to avoid interaction with the project’s interface. Balancer (BAL), an automated market maker on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, has become the latest decentralized finance protocol to suffer from a frontend attack. According to an X post by Balancer, the issue is “under investigation.” The balancer frontend is under an attack. The issue is currently under investigation.
